The Frank Nuyts Ad Hoc Ensemble is composed of several musicians who have in the past performed several pieces by the aforementioned composer.
Frank Nuyts hand picked them during concerts featuring his music. All were invited to continue their relationship with the composer in various ways.
Raf De Keninck clarinetist and conductor played Bajadillas with his trio, and conducted the widely praised performances of the piano concerto 'Innocence in admiration' and the Chamber Symphony 'fetish' which both were released to great acclaim on cd and broadcasted on the radio.
Frank Nuyts met Gabi Sultana while she still was a Master after Master student in the School of Arts Ghent where he teaches composition and orchestration. Gabi specialized in contemporary music which led to several acclaimed performances of the 6th sonata which she still plays all over Europe. She commissioned the 21st sonata to be premiered in 2017. She prepares performances of the pre sonata series works as well.
Keiko Shichijo is one of the foremost performers of the pianoforte. Like Gabi she decided to play mainly contemporary music on the piano, after she too got her Master after Master in the same school. Keiko performed several times the 13th sonata, and was invited by Frank Nuyts to play in the En Avant Mars Festival (hosted in the Bijloke Music Center Ghent) which he yearly organizes together with his wife Iris de Blaere. There she premiered two dance creations. Keiko plans to continue her relationship with the composer by preparing to play the 17th Sonata.
Both Gabi and Keiko have recorded their sonata which is released on a cd box featuring the first 18 sonatas.
Jolien De Ley is the youngest performer though she too has already played several pieces by Frank Nuyts: she premiered the pianotrio 'Scrolling ME' as a member of the trio Lysesco, followed by several other performances. Currently she's touring with Bajadillas, amazing audiences with her heartfelt performance of her part. She will take part in the upcoming performance of 'Double takes' for visuals, two singers, piano, marimba, recorders and violoncello during the season 2016-17.
